What our readers are saying…

“Whenever I get an e-mail from Marketing Your App I stop what I’m doing and read it immediately, because I know what you have to say could make – or break – the success of my apps.

Today was no exception. I had just submitted my app, Baby Codes, to the App Store this morning. I felt pretty good about it, but when I read your tips on how to effectively use the App Store description to market my app, I quickly realized I completely omitted 3 of your 4 recommendations. Thankfully I was able to make the changes before it was too late!”

“We adopted many new marketing ideas via the Marketing Your App website. These included requesting game reviews, submitting press releases, blog promotions, YouTube videos and putting the word out using social networking tools. These efforts have really paid off, significantly increasing sales and all those marketing strategies did not cost us a dime!

Hello, I am considering creating a apps, the information is of great use to me, there is not much happening in the Australian app arena, yet so many friends & colleagues of mine are really into their app’s for both business and fun. More & more Aussie companies are embracing apps as a commercial business tool.

Hi,

My organization has developed a new vernacular app “CityZen”. The app has many services like news, entertainment, weather etc bundled in along with the option to translate into local languages as well. In the first roll out we are targetting spain, US, Brasil, France, Germany and Portugal.

I was hoping for some insights into how I can market into these geographies and what services are popular here?

Also, since there are som many services, I was wondering under which category should I upload the app in marketplace. Can I upload the same app into many categories on market?

Cheers,
AndroidGuru..n

Hi AndroidGuru,

Thank you for your comment, that’s a great question! I have some thoughts about how we can help you, and will send you a email.

Hi admin,

Just left a comment in your other post but a question here:
Do the categories that you put the app under make that much of a difference? We have ours right now stuck in Entertainment and Utilities but would rather put it in News as similar apps are in there too.

What tips could you offer for ranking within the App Store itself?

I guess it was 2 questions in the end but do appreciate your advice and feedback.

Thanks,
Appropolis

Hi Appropolis,

Thank you, I’d be glad to offer some advice to help you promote your app. When you’re trying to stand out in the App Store, it helps to make your app attractive to both ways that people can find you… searching and browsing.

There are different strategies for each. For example, choosing the right category means that you’ll be there when someone is browsing through the kind of app they want. And picking good keywords can help you be found more easily.

If you’d like some help standing out in the App Store, please drop us an email at ask@marketingyourapp.com and we’d be glad to explain how we can help. Thank you!
